CAPRICIOUS SDF ~ 4/2002, mature 16.1-3hh, OldNA, Mare

"Capri" is a gorgeous mare who exhibits 3 excellent gaits, a friendly, willing attitude, and a lineage for both Dressage and Jumping. Her full brother, Wunderbar SDF, qualified in 2007 for both Devon and Harrisburg in the 3'6" hunters. Her half-brother, Cordovan SDF just started his show career, and is showing well in both hunter and jumper.

Capri is approved Main Mare Book (OldNA) with a solid score of "100."
She produced a lovely filly ~ Catalina SDF ~ by Fred Astair (Han) in April 2006!
"Lena" was awarded premium status with a movement score of 8.2. We were very pleased, since at presentation Lena was at an awkward stage of development at 6½ mos.!

Capri is in training and is green walk/trot.
(She should start cantering in March.)
Not surprisingly, her under-saddle work is progressing very smoothly and easily.  The second time I sat on her I trotted her in the round pen. The third time I walked and trotted in an arena, and actually had steering at the trot! For those of you familiar with backing horses, this is quite an accomplishment. Most youngsters go through what I call a "drunk phase" as they wander and stagger trying to compensate for the unfamiliar weight of the rider. Not Capri! She is surprisingly solid and was able to trot in very good balance! The above U/S pictures were taken after just ~10 sessions under-saddle!

With her FEI potential, we are very excited ~ and can hardly wait to start her show career!
